Introduction to Live Stream Summer School

We kicked off the Live Stream Summer School with a promise of fun and learning. As I mentioned, if it’s not enjoyable, then why do it? We’re aiming to simplify live streaming and make it accessible to everyone, regardless of skill level or experience. I shared some personal tech hiccups, like my expensive camera failing, and how I'm currently using my iPhone to stream. This just goes to show that you can adapt and still deliver quality content!

The Importance of Knowing Your Audience

As we ventured into the meat of the discussion, I emphasized the importance of knowing who you're talking to. This isn't just a technical exercise; it’s about building relationships and community. If you don’t know who your audience is, your content may fall flat, leading to inconsistent views and engagement. So, let’s focus on defining your MV3—your Most Valuable Video Viewer.

Understanding the MV3 Concept

Your MV3 is not everyone; it's the specific group most likely to engage, subscribe, and eventually purchase from you. A statistic I shared highlighted that 72% of people only engage with content tailored to their interests. This drives home the point that understanding your audience is essential. If your content doesn’t resonate, it’s time to pivot.

The Hamburger Stand Analogy

To illustrate the importance of knowing your audience, I shared a relatable story about a hamburger stand owner who set up shop at a vegan conference. Despite his preparations and expectations of high traffic, he quickly realized he had the wrong audience. This analogy serves as a reminder that even the best-laid plans can fail without the right audience in mind.

Five Questions to Identify Your MV3

Next, I introduced five pivotal questions to help you define your MV3. These questions will guide you in tailoring your content to meet the needs of your specific audience:

  1. What problem do you help solve? - Define the core issue your audience faces.

  2. What type of client or viewer drains your energy? - Identify traits of clients you don't want to work with.

  3. What's one vibe or personality trait that your dream viewer has? - Describe the characteristics of your ideal viewer.

  4. What's one specific thing your audience is trying to fix or figure out? - Understand their pain points and aspirations.

  5. What platform feels like your audience's online home? - Determine where your audience hangs out online.

Engagement Statistics and Insights

We also discussed some eye-opening statistics. For example, calls to action tailored to a specific audience convert 202% better than generic ones. Additionally, live stream viewers are 73% more likely to buy when the content fits their needs. This reinforces the importance of focusing your content on your MV3.

Call to Action

As we conclude Day 1 of Live Stream Summer School, I encourage you to reflect on the five questions we discussed. Take the time to identify your MV3 and think about how you can tailor your content to meet their needs. Remember, clarity will come through action, so don't hesitate to start experimenting!
